New research suggests that consuming coffee can decrease your chance of suffering from a migraine.
Drinking coffee each day could reduce your risk of developing a migraine, according to a recent study. The research, published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, used Mendelian randomisation techniques to establish a causal link between coffee consumption and a reduced risk of migraines.
However, the recent study used MR methods to assess the potential link between coffee consumption and migraines as well as neurological diseases, respectively. The scientists used the genome-wide association study from the UK Biobank, based on more than 400,000 people of European descent. Using the data, the researchers identified 40 SNPs - single-nucleotide polymorphism - each independent so that their association with coffee intake had little significance.
According to the analysis, coffee consumption reduced the risk of migraine and migraine with aura - the sensory symptoms that often occur prior to a migraine.
