Even with a talk show, magazine and other big projects in her orbit, Drew Barrymore says the one thing people still ask her about “nearly every day” is Charlie’s Angels 3
By Grace Rasmus | Photographs by Heather Sten for The Wall Street JournalDrew Barrymore admits her hit daytime talk show took time to figure out. “When we launched in the pandemic, there was a lot of disappointment,” she recalls. “But I’m glad that it was so tough. I don’t really identify with smoothness, I identify a lot more with struggle.”
Ms. Barrymore balances the show, recently renewed for a fourth season, with the demands of other projects. In 2021, the 48-year-old launched both “Drew,” a quarterly print magazine, and Beautiful by Drew, a line of cookware and appliances. Here, she talks about juggling passions, another “Charlie’s Angels” sequel, and her quest to be “cool-adjacent.”it’s like a fire I can’t extinguish. I just end up building on it day after day. Then the more you build it, the more you can see it, and it gives you this strange energy.come and be my real self and go through what I’m going through.
that picture of me and Steven Spielberg on the set of “E.T.” Not having a dad, not having that kind of relationship with anyone, he was just so good and nurturing and kind.We still have a really wonderful relationship. I thank him because, had he not chosen me, I think my life would be really different. It’s crazy when you can really trace it back to someone. I live to make him proud.
