Summary Drake Bell is interested in a Drake & Josh reboot, but he doesn't want a complete revival. Having spun off The Amanda Show, the sitcom followed Bell and Josh Peck as two boys attempting to connect after joining a blended family. The show ran from 2004 to 2007 and its run also included two movies, which were released in 2006 and 2008.
Bell still holds his appearances on the sitcom in high regard. In an interview with The Patriot News, he explained that he would love to return for a revival, though he does have conditions. He would not return for a mere repeat of the show's premise, as he would prefer to see the characters starring in other unrelated buddy comedies. That would mean that Miranda Cosgrove would not necessarily return as their impetuous little sister.
I would love to. We’ve talked about it. But I also didn’t want to do it when everyone was doing the reboots. It’s like, ‘Okay, of course, let’s do a reboot because everyone’s doing reboots.’ If we’re going to do something, it should be more special. Let’s hit ’em with a bang, instead of, ‘oh, another reboot.' I don’t think I would do us playing the characters from the show, or having Meg. I think, luckily for us, it’s our names, so we can still play Drake and Josh .
