Zac Lomax has been cut loose by St George Illawarra with the Dragons giving him permission to leave the club.

The St George Illawarra have announced they are parting ways with an under fire, highly paid player who’s already been linked to rivals.

In a statement, the Dragons said they had “reached an agreement with Zac Lomax and his management for his departure from the club at the conclusion of the current season”.“His contracted years for 2025 and 2026 will be terminated with no financial contribution to be made by the club in these years, allowing him the freedom to explore opportunities with other clubs effective immediately,” the statement said.

“This arrangement enables the Dragons to focus on refining our top 30 roster and utilising additional cap space, while Zac can pursue his future endeavours with another club.” The Parramatta Eels are believed to be interested in recruiting Lomax, while his departure would free up the Dragons to pursue a big-name recruit.he couldn’t understand why Lomax would want to leave the Dragons.“If you’re picking the NSW team today or very, very soon he’s in conversation for a wing spot ... if he’s still in the centres he’s not in the conversation.
