Dragon Ball Super fans won bigtime with its latest confirmation of the anime's return, easily the biggest request across the fandom. While the other massive demand of the audiences wasn't met, a return of the manga for new chapters, a Beerus Saga remake and a brand new saga adaptation is phenomenal news.
But another anime fandom remains considerably disappointed. While there is a slate of Dragon Ball Super episodes remaking the Beerus Saga Kai-style, the promised four remade Naruto episodes continue only to be hinted at by leaks and surprising Chinese government reveals. There has yet to be an official confirmation on a firm release window in 2026, Dragon Ball Super's reveal proves even a simple announcement would suffice. Dragon Ball Stepped Up and So Should Naruto Since the March 26, 2023 release of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' final episode, the Naruto franchise's anime component has laid dormant, while an entire Dragon Ball anime came and went. The announcement of the remade Naruto episodes is practically a joke among fans given how often leakers circulate"trusted sources", lately claiming a 2026 release window. While TV Tokyo documents from May of 2024 pointed toward that fiscal year previously being the planned window for a new anime, that window has long since passed. Anime like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, meanwhile, will release in Fall 2026 and have a good chance of wrapping before fans see more new Naruto episodes at this rate. There are still encouraging updates, though. Thanks to leaks by the Chinese government, it was revealed that studio Huahan Animation Co., Ltd. appears to be working on animation tasks for both Naruto and One Piece. This alone keeps hope alive for the special Naruto episodes either later this year, or soon after. But this issue expands beyond Naruto remakes. Boruto Deserves Its Dragon Ball Super Moment While Dragon Ball may well be releasing remade/enhanced episodes of Super for its first arc, the more exciting announcement was of its continuation with Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. This anime will feature a story and villain largely born of Toyotarou's creation instead of Toriyama's, so it's a fitting way for the anime to move on after Toriyama's passing. However, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has yet to fully conclude its story for Part 1 of the Boruto saga, with the Omnipotence Arc still in heavy demand. Given it is half the length of Dragon Ball Super's Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, it's uncertain whether it'd be better off as a limited series or film, but there's little information available. Studio Pierrot has quietly revealed Part 2 is incoming, while the @NARUTOtoBORUTO X account, now labeled the Official Twitter for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, states in its bio to stay tuned for Part 2 updates. These are largely the only other confirmations, while the Boruto manga continues in earnest in its latest exciting new arcs. An official confirmation of Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece airing concurrently would still be a sight to behold. Dragon Ball Super's last episode aired on March 25, 2018, and its latest manga release was Dragon Ball Super chapter #104 last February. Audiences waited patiently and are being rewarded. Naruto fans should expect to wait a bit longer, but an official confirmation of Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece airing concurrently would still be a sight to behold.
