A doctor who was criticised for the care he provided to a woman in the midst of a traumatic labour tried to clear his name by accusing his colleagues of being racist.
However, at this point the baby's heartrate began to increase and when it reached a level described as a "crash situation", it was decided she needed an immediate caesarean and a midwife called another doctor to carry out the procedure. After the baby was born a midwife and colleagues raised concerns about Dr Bari's inaction and lack of prompt response to the escalating situation.
An employment tribunal ruling was published last month after a five-day hearing held in March this year. In the ruling Employment Judge Cookson dismissed Dr Bari's claim of race discrimination.
