DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Dr Sbongiseni Dhlomo says political leaders should be able to evaluate their leadership strengths and weaknesses.The political activist and former Robben Island prisoner was speaking at the launch of his autobiography.Former Robben Island prisoners, academics, political comrades and members of Dhlomo's family attended the launch."My Journey to Robben Island" reflects on the life many had to undertake in pursuit of freedom.
Dhlomo and his eleven co-accused were arrested on Christmas Day in 1985, for their alleged involvement in the planting of explosives around Durban.28 years later, he's reflecting on the journey that led him to prison. Dhlomo says as a young medical student after he was captured, he had the option of betraying his comrades to the authorities.
