Dr. Robotnik has been a key part of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, and his villainous role has allowed him to deliver some of the franchise's best quotes. Having portrayed the character in the two previous outings, Jim Carrey's return as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 3 means the iconic villain will once again play a pivotal part in the live-action movie franchise, which is great news for the upcoming film.
Carrey's over-the-top delivery nails Robotnik's eccentric personality and shows how great the villain's presence is in each film. The pantomime performance is a big part of his identity, and this one line epitomizes his wacky demeanor. Rather than introducing Knuckles in a more formal or sinister way, Robotnik breaks any illusion of being overly intimidating by providing such a childish greeting.
As a result, Dr. Robotnik sees Sonic's confidence as a weakness, hence why he calls the protagonist a fool in this quote. However, despite Sonic's ambition often getting him into trouble, he still manages to overcome the villain and save the day, proving he is intelligent in his own way.
