Oz turned his gregarious nature and credentials as a cardiothoracic surgeon into frequent guest spots on Oprah. He turned those guest shots into a daytime talk show. He turned that daytime talk show into a sales engine for a variety of junk science supplements. Those supplements got him an appearance before a congressional committee to explain why he was selling debunked miracle cures to America’s daytime talkshow viewers. Spoiler alert: It was money.
