PETALING JAYA: Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin has quit PKR and joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
He said he met Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Tuesday to inform the Bersatu president that in the next Penang assembly meeting in November, he would be seated at the opposition bench.
On April 14, PKR suspended the Seberang Jaya assemblyman pending an investigation by the party's disciplinary board. The Star had reported on Saturday that a meeting between Dr Afif and several opposition assemblymen on Friday had raised questions about the political landscape in Penang.
