In one instance in June 2019, a man was detained by Mar-a-Lago security and other local police officers for trespassing. He said that he was visiting Mar-a-Lago because he “was the ‘Commander in Chief’ and wanted to survey Mar-a-Lago because it was his birthright.” The man claimed that he was entitled to become “ruler of the entire world,” as was his “birthright.”

He was involuntarily committed to a mental facility after refusing to speak with Secret Service. He also said that although he believed Trump was doing a poor job as president he had no intention of doing him harm. Other mentally ill individuals trespassed but didn’t make it past the ring of security. On Dec. 30, 2018, one man apprehended by security claimed Trump owed him “six trillion dollars,” and that the then-president “controlled all animals and used them as weapons and intelligence gathering mediums.”
