Campaigner Laurie Levy and Animal Justice Party MP Georgie Purcell have led a protest against duck hunting by placing several dead bodies of the bird outside the Victorian Premier's office.
Animal Justice Party Victoria MP Georgie Purcell joined Coalition Against Duck Shooting founder Laurie Levy outside parliament and the office of Premier Daniel Andrews with almost 100 dead native water birds.
The Animal Justice Party member fronted the media alongside Mr Levy as they presented two ducks they claimed were illegally shot during the first week of the hunting season. "I have a freckled duck here today and this is the rarest water bird in the whole country," Ms Purcell said. "Duck shooters always tell us that they follow the rules, and it was tightly regulated. These birds are just a small sample of the ones that would have been wounded or killed and left behind, which is an offence."
