Peter Shalulile and his Sundowns team-mates celebrate a goal against Al Ahly during their CAF Champions League match at Loftus Versfeld yesterday.Mamelodi Sundowns became the second team to book a place in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals after a crushing 5-2 win over Al Ahly at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria yesterday. The Egyptian giants have won this tournament a record 10 times.
Sundowns started the second half as the better team again, though clear goal-scoring chances were few and far between until late in the half, when former Downs star forward Percy Tau added a goal for Al Ahly with half an hour to go. Hilal are second with nine points, and a point against Sundowns will almost guarantee them a place in the knockout round.
