The fire started on Friday and crews responded to the area of Corls Road on South Mountain in Greene Township around 2:40 p.m., according to theThe Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources estimates 200 acres burned in total, including a small shed. No cabins or homes were damaged as a result of the fire, fire crews said.
Several roads in the area were closed as a result of the fire, but it is unclear whether they have reopened as of Saturday evening. First responders from Franklin County, Cumberland County, Adams County and Fulton County were assisted by crews from Washington, Maryland and Fredrick, Maryland. Additional fire crews returned to the area again Saturday morning to assist with extinguishing hot spots. Although smoke may remain in the area, the fire has been contained as of Saturday and is being monitored as it continues to smolder.due to drier-than-usual conditions, including one of the driest Octobers recorded. Parts of central Pennsylvania were under a red flag fire warning Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
