As Harry Potter icon Matthew Lewis impresses in his hit new mystery series, Murder Before Evensong, another famous Potter alum will join Dougray Scott in another must-see British thriller, set to debut in the UK this November on Channel 4.
Titled Summerwater, Scott stars alongside Shirley Henderson, perhaps best known for playing Moaning Myrtle in the global hit fantasy series, in a new six-part Scottish drama based on Sarah Moss' best-selling novel of the same name. Now, ahead of the show's release, a first trailer has dropped and is available to view below. Giving viewers their first chilling glimpse into the world of Summerwater and the many twists and turns that await, the trailer below is as tense as it is enticing, offering an atmosphere sure to get viewers lost in the story. Adapted by Utopia's John Donnelly and directed by the duo of Robert McKillop and Fiona Walton, Summerwater has been described by Channel 4 as"thrilling and compulsive" and"character-led," with Donnelly previously saying: "Summerwater is at once an atmospheric mystery, a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of identity and an existential thriller. I am delighted to be working with the brilliant team at Freedom Scripted to adapt Sarah's wonderful novel for a broadcaster with such a pedigree for bold, ambitious drama." What Is 'Summerwater' About? A teasing trailer and exciting lead stars aside, what exactly is Summerwater all about?"Set predominantly at a remote loch-side Scottish holiday cabin park, Summerwater looks at the simmering tensions between holidaymakers that eventually erupt into a devastating climax," the official synopsis for the series begins."Weaving together the lives of several families as they navigate unspoken conflicts, private dilemmas, and fleeting moments of beauty from their disparate cabins, the story flashes back to dramatic events in key characters’ lives before their holiday, which may have consequences in the present." The story, set to feature Scott and Henderson in lead roles, also boasts plenty of other friendly faces for fans of British television. This includes a White Lotus alum in Arnas Fedaravičiu, Blue Lights favorite Valene Kane, Showtrial's Anna Próchniak, House of the Dragon alum Gabriel Scott, Vigil's Anders Hayward, and much more.
