This comes after Robert Card, the suspect in the deadly Maine shooting, was found dead on Friday.
STAFF REPORT Dothan Leisure Services and Mike Culbreth’s School of World Yoshuaki Karate are hosting the 43rd annual Southern Regional Open karate tournament on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Dothan Civic Center.
The tournament, which is the largest in the state, will feature competitors from Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, and Alabama. Around 300 participants are expected throughout the weekend.Several black belts will be in attendance to help judge the event. The tournament is open to all styles of martial arts and karate. There will also be divisions for fighting, weapons, and katas.
Trophies will be presented to first, second, and third place winners in all divisions and adults in black belt divisions will receive grand champion trophies. All youth competitors will be presented a medal for participation. Registration for participants will be held on the morning of the competition from 9 to 10 a.m. Entry fee for participants is $70 for all events. Spectator passes will be $6 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12 and children 5 and under are admitted free. The event starts at 10 a.m.
