More than 33,000 people complained about fair housing in the United States last year. DHA is trying to help reduce that number.DOTHAN, Ala. - More than 33,000 people complained about fair housing in the United States, a number thatThe Dothan Housing Authority is trying to help reduce that number, as during Fair Housing Month they are hosting informational sessions to help tenants and buyers know their rights.
Dothan Housing wants everyone to know they are listening and staying up to date with the latest practices on best-serving tenants. ”Dothan Housing has positioned itself as a housing agency that promotes education and awareness year-round on the importance of fairness and shelter,” Ladonice Freeney, the Director of Compliance at the Dothan Housing Authority, said.
That’s one of Dothan Housing Authority’s main goals, to exercise the Fair Housing Act, which was established in 1968 to prevent discrimination to anyone buying a home.“I think that’s hard to gauge honestly, because fair housing is something that should be exercised across the board,” Freeney said.“Having fair housing is important, because we want to let our participants know that we care. That is ultimately what it’s about.
If you are facing any discrimination as a tenant, Dothan Housing says do not hesitate to seek legal action.
