The Wolves girls wrestling team won five of six contested matches to highlight a 47-18 win over Russell County at Dothan High’s James Smith Convocation Center.

David Mundee Dothan girls wrestling coach Travis Robinson couldn’t find a lot of bad things to say about his team and its performance Thursday night against Russell County.

Four of the five victories came by pinfall, mostly after wrestlers built a big lead, with the other win coming by a 15-point tech fall decision by the second period.Robinson said his team executed what he wanted during the dual match. People are also reading… Winning matches by pinfall for Dothan were Akria Johnson, Teegan Robinson, A’Jiyah Crosdale and Iyanna Williams. Johnson and Robinson bumped up in weight classes, wrestling in the 165 and 185-pound weight classes, respectively, and claimed wins in higher-than-normal weight divisions. Tatianna Pate earned the tech fall decision.

The dual opened with a pair of forfeits – one to Russell County’s Keyonce Haynes at the 145-pound weight class and the other to Dothan’s Jenna Mitchell at 152.
