The Dothan boys bowling team secured a historic fourth-place finish at the AHSAA State Bowling Championships in Mobile. Despite a loss in their opening match against Southside of Gadsden on Tuesday, the Wolves' performance throughout the tournament marked the best achievement in the program's history. Dothan 's journey at the state tournament began with a 2-2 record. They triumphed over Southside with a narrow victory of 1406 to 1405, but fell to Thompson 1507 to 1313.
On Monday, they bounced back to defeat Tuscaloosa County 1404 to 1329 before facing Southside in their decisive final match. In Tuesday's match, Dothan faced a strong challenge from Southside. The Panthers established an early lead with a 973 to 865 advantage in the traditional format and took the first Baker set 199 to 174. However, the Wolves fought back with a powerful second Baker set, outscoring Southside 185 to 151. Landon Conrad's impressive three consecutive strikes at the end of the set ignited the team's effort. Despite their valiant comeback attempt, the Wolves ultimately fell short, losing the final Baker set 202 to 164, resulting in a 146-pin defeat. During the traditional format, Conrad led the Wolves with a 227 score, achieving six strikes and four spares. Tanner Ormes followed closely with a 196, showcasing six strikes, including three in a row to conclude his round, along with five spares. Gavin Hendershott contributed a 154, Ayush Patel bowled a 151, and Wesley Hutto recorded a 137. In the Baker sets, Conrad led the charge with five strikes. Despite the final result, the team's performance throughout the tournament cemented their place in Dothan bowling history
