Modders transform the classic Doom map E1M1 into a parody art gallery featuring Doomguy as a sophisticated art connoisseur.
There's more to Doom guy than just eradicating hellspawn with the BFG. Modders Filippo Meozzi and Liam Stone transformed E1M1, the first map in the original game, into an interactive art gallery. In this art piece, Doom guy wields a glass of wine or can of beer as he peruses classic works of art, collects cash, and listens to Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Suite No. 1 in G major.' The game's Itch.io page states it was created as a parody of the pretentious world of gallery openings.
Players can walk around, appreciate art, sip wine, and enjoy hors d'oeuvres in the re-imagined E1M1. Cash can be used to purchase items like socks and a tote bag from the gift shop, and players can fill up a cheese meter (and a drinks meter) by munching on hors d'oeuvres. Doomguy even sports a pair of fashionable glasses. When viewing a piece, you might see a link to the relevant Metropolitan Museum of Art webpage. Alternatively, Doomguy might say he doesn't want to look at it anymore and just wants to get back to shooting demons
