Donald Trump's lawyers want prosecutor Jack Smith to be sanctioned for trying to reign in the former president's online comments.In a court filing to Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida, they claim that Smith is among the prosecution 'thought police' who are trying to silence Trump.They also claim that gag orders are now 'in vogue' with politically motivated prosecutors and request that Smith and his team face contempt proceedings.
'In his motion on Friday, Smith requested that Cannon alter Trump's bail conditions so that he is forbidden from making such claims against the FBI, which Smith claimed were putting FBI agents in danger from Trump supporters.On Monday, Trump's lawyers, Chris Kise and Todd Blanche filed a lengthy rebuttal in which they accused Smith and the other prosecutors of trying to silence Trump's free speech.
