Trump urges NBA 'owners' to tout his work on criminal justice reform, black unemployment
Rapinoe has been one of the most outspoken athletes in the US and has been criticised by Trump in the past for kneeling during the national anthem, in solidarity with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest about racial inequality.
During an interview with Eight By Eight magazine, Rapinoe scoffed at a question about whether she was “excited” about the prospect of going to the White House if the team retained the trophy. Taking to his favourite medium to scold critics, Trump tweeted: “Women’s soccer player @mPinoe just stated that she is ‘not going to the F...ing White House if we win.’
