The president trails in polling overall, though people voting in varying ways are likely to lean differently in terms of who they support.

The varying support comes with Trump having long criticized the roll out of universal mail-in voting in some areas. This provision has expanded in many states amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Trump has suggested it could be open to rampant fraud, despite their not being evidence of such fraud being widespread previously. While he has said he is against universal mail-in voting, he has said he has no issue with absentee voting if it is the kind in which you have to apply for a ballot. The president has voted this way himself., while according to FiveThirtyEight's tracker he is 10.2 points behind.
