Shifts in approval and disapproval ratings could signal broader erosion and complicate the Republican Party's midterm strategies.

President Donald Trump has hit new approval-rating lows in three polls published between Monday and Tuesday. The latest from The Economist and YouGov, released on Tuesday, shows the president with a 35 percent approval rating, his lowest this term in office.

Shifts in approval and disapproval ratings could signal broader erosion and complicate the Republican Party's midterm strategies, especially as multiple trackers show Trump significantly underwater nationally., potentially compounding headwinds for the White House amid public concern over the cost of living in the U.S. and the ongoing war with Iran.on Tuesday, the president's approval rating is 35 percent, and his disapproval rating is 58 percent. The poll surveyed 1,679 U.S. adults from March 27 to March 30, 2026, with a 3.2 percent margin of error.on Tuesday, YouGov's Allen Houston said in part,"Only 35% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of how Trump is handling his job as president, while 58% disapprove, for a net job approval of -23. That's the lowest net approval Trump has received in any Economist / YouGov Poll over Trump's first or second terms as president." With the pollster, Trump's approval rating did dip below 35 percent one time, in a November 2017 poll where it was 34 percent, Houston said. Houston later noted that"At this point in Trump's first term, his net approval was -11. At this point in Joe Biden's term, his net approval was -6."released on Monday, Trump's approval rating is 43 percent versus a 53 percent disapproval rating. The poll was taken on March 25 and March 26 among 2,009 registered voters and has a margin of error of 1.99 percent. The last time Trump's approval rating was close to 43 percent was in a survey taken in November 2025, when it hit 44. The last two surveys by the pollster show the president's approval rating at 46 percent last month and 45 percent in January.from the University of Massachusetts Amherst released on Monday, Trump's approval rating is a record low 33 percent, and his disapproval rating is 62 percent. The poll surveyed 1,000 people from March 20 to March 25, 2026, and has a margin of error of 3.5 percent."A steady fall into the abyss for Trump's net approval, as it falls into Death Valley. He's now at a term 2 low: -18 pts. Big reason why: Independents. Trump's at -45 pts. The worst for any prez at this point in term 2. Worse than Nixon at the height of Watergate!""The ultimate poll was November 5th, 2024, when nearly 80 million Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump to deliver on his popular and commonsense agenda." He added:"No other President in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump, who is working tirelessly to create jobs, cool inflation, increase housing affordability, and more. The President has already made historic progress not only in America but around the world, and this is just the beginning as his agenda continues taking effect.", ours is different: The Courageous Center—it's not"both sides," it's sharp, challenging and alive with ideas.
