Trump bragged as US Covid-19 deaths soared past 99,000. Over 99,600 were reported to have died by Tuesday morning, with the death toll almost certain to reach 100,000 later today. The United States has by far the most confirmed cases – 1.6 million – and deaths of any country in the world, although China is widely believed to have lied about its statistics.
But the president has insisted he has done a good job of tackling the virus, and hit out at likely election rival Joe Biden’s handling of the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic which killed over 12,000 Americans while Biden was vice president.
