Apple accidentally let slip that it’s working on a new charger which will be a big bonus for iPhone and iPad users: a charging plug with two USB-C sockets.
But while we wait to see what the full details of Apple’s version is, the brilliant Nomad has beaten Apple to the punch with a new AC adapter of its own, and it’s just become available to buy. It’s called the Nomad 65W AC Adapter.
What’s more, this is a 65W adapter, which seems to be a higher power than the details which have leaked about the Apple plug which have pointed to a 30W capability. The fact that this is a 65W device means that it can charge an M1 MacBook Air, for instance, from the upper port. When charging a single device from either port, Nomad says, “the power tops out at 65W, and when charging two devices, the upper port will max out at 45W while the lower port will supply up to 20W.”
So, it’s not just iPhone and iPad owners who will benefit from this device, but Mac users, too. The plug pins fold down when not in use, making it useful as a travel device, and it comes with U.S.-style plug pins only.
