Hector Luiz De La Cruz Nunez, 32, was sentenced to prison for transporting fentanyl from Philadelphia to North Jersey. Authorities discovered nearly six kilograms of fentanyl hidden in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Two other individuals involved in the operation have pleaded guilty and await sentencing.
Hector Luiz De La Cruz Nunez, 32, of the Dominican Republic previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute, as well as possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
Authorities began investigating a large-scale drug-trafficking organization out of a residence in Philadelphia in February 2022 where large quantities of fentanyl were being moved into North Jersey, officials said. Officials stopped Nunez in Union County and found four large wrapped bricks, each containing about 100 packages of individually wrapped fentanyl, according to authorities.
