The title is the Panthers' second in a row and came thanks to some great pitching and big hits.
It was business as usual for Cedar Grove as the No. 9 ranked Panthers rode a masterful pitching performance by Cayce Kavakich and big hits by Gia Fernandez, Marina Bryant and Bella Stolz as the Panthers downed Haddon Township 5-0 for their second straight Group 1 crown.
Four of Cedar Grove’s five runs came in the third inning when Ava Oeckel started the rally before Fernandez hit a triple to bring her home. A Marina Bryant single brought home Fernandez and a Stolz two-run homer brought both her and Bryant home.Cedar Grove tacked on one more run in the fourth inning when Fernandez doubled and Bryant singled her home again.
In the circle, Kavakich was lights out, striking out 13 and retiring the final 11 batters of the game in a row.
