Prosecutors have dropped domestic violence charges against a Cook County judge after the complaining witness decided not to testify in the case, according to court records.
Cook County Circuit Judge Carl Boyd, who was was assigned in the 6th Municipal District in Markham, waswith a misdemeanor count of domestic battery. A 57-year-old woman had reported to police that Boyd thew a glass bottle at a glass door window, causing the window to break in the 10700 block of South Seeley Avenue, Chicago police said.Cook County prosecutors on Oct.
11 asked the judge to dismiss the case when the woman decided not to proceed, according to court records and a statement from the state’s attorneys office.Chief Judge Timothy Evans had placed Boyd on restrictive duties, assigning him to work in the office of the 1st Municipal District Presiding Judge E. Kenneth Wright, Jr. Evans also asked that a judge from outside Cook County to hear the case and Will County Judge Art Smigielski was appointed.
