KOTA KINABALU: Domestic tourism holds the key to help Sabah’s tourism industry as the state government temporarily bans tourist arrivals from South Korea following the rising number of Covid-19 cases in that country.
Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents president Datuk Seri Winston Liaw said the state government’s March 1 ban was necessary in view of the developing viral threat in South Korea, whose citizens make up the second largest group of tourists to visit Sabah.
He said that under the current situation, people in the state were free and moving around normally, which was encouraging for domestic tourism.
