Dollar General has agreed to pay $12 million in a settlement with the Department of Labor over alleged safety violations.
The retail chain must also improve safety protocols at its stores and can be fined $100,000 a day for any problems that are not resolved within a 48-hour period. “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with OSHA to resolve these matters,” the company said in a statement, per ABC News. “We remain committed to ensuring a safe working environment for our employees and a pleasant shopping experience for our customers.”
As part of the settlement Dollar General must reduce its inventory and improve stocking to prevent any hazards. The company also has to hire more safety managers and create a health and safety committee that has employee participation.
