Prosecutors with the Department of Justice informed former President Donald Trump’s legal team Wednesday that he is the target of a federal investigation over his handling of classified documents after he left office.

Ryan Goodman, a former Justice Department special counsel and founding co-editor-in-chief of Just Security – a publication covering national security law and policy published by New York University’s Law School, where Goodman is a chaired professor – commented on the serious nature of the tape’s existence for the investigation into Trump.
Trump responded to the Wednesday news in a rant on his social media platform Truth Social, saying no one has told him he’s being indicted and that he should not be because he’s done “NOTHING wrong.” In an interview with the Times’ Maggie Haberman Wednesday afternoon, Trump did not reveal whether he had been told he was a target of the special counsel’s investigation and denied being told he would be indictment.
I think the signal is increasingly that the charges against the former president will be in Florida,” said Brandon Van Grack, a former Justice Department prosecutor and a key lawyer on an earlier special counsel team that investigated ties between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign.
