DOH: More than 1,800 doctors, health workers in Philippines have COVID19

MANILA—The Department of Health on Tuesday said that 1,819 health workers have now been infected with COVID-19 as of Monday, May 4, 47 cases higher than Sunday, May 3.

A total of 350 have recovered and 34 have died, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire. Of the 1,435 remaining active cases, 430 are asymptomatic, 986 have mild symptoms, and the others are severe cases. Vergeire said those infected included: 685 nurses, 590 doctors, 107 nursing assistants, 70 medical technologists, 34 radiologic technologists, 20 respiratory therapists, 21 midwives, 15 pharmacists and 277 other unspecified health workers.
