Two dog rescuers, Jenny Rodriguez and Zully Vasquez, took Deven Clarke on a tour of Liberty County to demonstrate the extent of the stray dog population.
Dog rescuers Jenny Rodriguez and Zully Vasquez took Deven Clarke on a ride through Liberty County to highlight the severity of the stray dog problem. Rodriguez and Vasquez say the issue extends beyond strays, including people abandoning unwanted dogs. They noted that many animals are starving and resorting to attacking livestock due to hunger. Rodriguez also mentioned that large dogs are harder to save due to a decline in adoption rates , particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Liberty County Commissioner David Whitmire stated there are no current updates on county initiatives to address this problem but assured that efforts are ongoing
