Owner Karen Donaldson, 50, says her family have been left devastated following the incident on Tuesday.
Owner Karen Donaldson, 50, has been left devastated after her golden Labrador was hit by a silver car on Milton Road in Edinburgh at around 12.10pm on Tuesday, August 28. The two-year-old pooch, named Harley, now needs to undergo an operation to put screws and metal plates into her leg after her limb was broken during the smash.
"We are not stupid and know she was not on a lead and got out of our house but they must have known they hit something and failed to stop and that it is an offence to do this. She has broken her leg in two places, and the vet fee is between £3,500 and £4,500 - we have insurance but it does not cover it all, so we still have a hefty fee.”
"Both my husband and I are devastated. We have not been able to see her since coming home. My son says that there were a couple of people using the pedestrian crossing nearby so we are hoping they can come forward. We have already had some really kind people provide CCTV footage so we hope we should be able to identify the driver.”
