Trevor J. Hunt, owner of K-9 Kingdom in Woodbury Heights, pleaded guilty to drug possession charges after a 3-year-old dog died during a grooming appointment at his business. Hunt faces up to four years in prison and is barred from working with animals in the future.

When Hunt allegedly became uncooperative with officers and tried to delete evidence from his phone, he was arrested, police said at the time. A necropsy on Harley, a border collie Australian shepherd mix, revealed no signs of illicit drugs in her system or any obvious indications of what caused her death, police later said.
He was also indicted on third-degree counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, as well as fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.
