A dog was found abandoned in a dumpster in Perinton, New York. The Humane Society of Greater Rochester is asking for the public's help in identifying the owner.
The Humane Society of Greater Rochester is searching for answers after a dog was found in a dumpster Monday night. According to Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement, the dog was found in good health, other than being slightly skinny and matted, after a passerby heard the dog and jumped into action. 'The issue with animals is everyone loves animals, everyone loves children,' said Reno DiDomenico, vice president of law enforcement at Lollypop Farm.
'These are the hardest cases for law enforcement officers to investigate.''We’re finding that we are getting a lot more calls for animals being left either abandoned in a public place or even we are getting phone calls either through 911 or our own hotline where people are saying, 'I need to leave. I left my animal here. Just come get it,'' he said. A 911 call came in Monday after someone passing by heard barking coming from the dumpster on Green Knolls Drive, which is in the southeast corner of the city near the Brighton border.'Right now, we have nothing to go on. We know the dog was dumped by somebody. We have no witnesses,' said DiDomenico. 'That’s what we are looking for, we are hoping that someone can identify this dog, recognize this dog tell us, who the owners might be, so that we can look into the circumstances behind why it was left in the dumpster.''The best offer I can give people is to call around, don’t give up, but please don’t abandon your animal in a public area,' DiDomenico said. 'It’s not a guarantee that someone is going to find your animal, and the animal may end up dead.'ll calls are anonymous: (585) 423-9300 Anyone with information is asked to contact The Humane Society of Greater Rochester's hotline: (585) 223-6500
