Organizers tweaked the 145th annual dog show to make it safer during the pandemic.

Thousands of dogs and their owners descended on a historic mansion estate in Tarrytown, New York, this weekend to take part in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the 145th iteration of the event but the first to take place since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

Because of coronavirus pandemic restrictions, organizers pushed the dog show back four months from the usual February until June to allow the event to be held outside. The dogs are also competing without their usual audience—spectators are banned from the dog show this year, and only people who have a dog competing are permitted to attend.
