Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla's Chief Designer, was spied driving a wrapped Cybertruck, leading to speculation that wraps might be on the official option list
Tesla has had fun trolling us and other automakers with Cybertruck prototypes wrapped to resemble rivals like the Ford F1-50, but most of the trucks we’ve seen have been dressed in their familiar stainless steel garb and Tesla hasn’t confirmed that other color options will be available. So when the firm’s design boss was spotted driving a Cybertruck dressed in a matte black wrap this weekend the internet understandably went a little bit wild.
Not everyone is going to like the shiny steel look or driving an identical truck to everyone else, and the nature of the panels means they can’t easily be painted. On top of that, CEO Elon Musk did mention in a social media post over three years ago that customers would be able to wrap their trucks and the company already offers wraps on the Model 3 and Y. Let’s face it: Tesla might as well offer the option and make some cash, because if it doesn’t make wraps available, someone else will.
