The PM says everyone should study numeracy in some form until they're 18 - emphasising his ambition to make it a central part of education policy. But education experts say there's already a shortage of maths teachers. JaneDodgeC4 reports.
The Prime Minister has emphasised his ambition to make numeracy a central objective of education policy. He says he’s not planning to make all pupils in England take A-level maths, but everyone should study the subject in some form until they’re 18.
Education experts responded by pointing out that there’s already a shortage of maths teachers. And that for the last three years the government hasn’t met its own targets for training new maths teachers.
