A new study discovered that children exposed to anesthesia multiple times before age 5 had lower IQ scores, especially in verbal and perceptual skills, and displayed more maladaptive behaviors.

Multiple anesthesia exposures were associated with increased difficulties in global executive function, as indicated by T scores that were 4.6 points higher on average .
