Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) using her magic in Wicked
At the end of Wicked, Elphaba rebels against the Wizard and Madame Morrible, leading her to become the Wicked Witch of the West, yet the movie's finale has other significant consequences, including the death of Governor Thropp. Based on the book and musical of the same name, Wicked is a half-spinoff, half-prequel to The Wizard of Oz, and follows Elphaba Thropp, a young woman with incredible power who begins attending magic school, alongside the iconic pink witch, Galinda.
Wicked doesn't provide any obvious answers about how Thropp dies, but the best theory is that he died of a sudden heart attack. ✕ Remove Ads Related Who Plays Nessarose In Wicked: Why Her Casting Is So Monumental The Wicked movie adaptation of the Broadway musical takes a monumental step forward in the casting of Nessarose Thropp, Elphaba's sister.
