Opening a workout to fans is one option the Dodgers are considering to keep their focus during the five days off next week before their best-of-five NLDS begins.
DENVER — The Dodgers are going to try and increase the intensity of their workouts during the runup to the National League Division Series next week. And they might ask you to help.
“I think it intensifies it a little bit more,” Roberts said of having fans watch the workout, which will include simulated-game competition. “No player likes to be embarrassed. And so, you’re facing your teammate, but just to go up there and strike out, that’s something. It’s not everything. But I do think that the fan experience, our guys playing in front of some warm bodies for a workout, I don’t see the downside.
Last year, both the Dodgers and Braves lost in their first playoff series – to the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies, respectively. “Try to create some situations for the pitchers, try to create some scoring situations for the hitters. More execution-based. Get you in that mindset of postseason baseball,” Roberts said.
