The Los Angeles Dodgers are close to finalizing a deal to bring back outfielder Teoscar Hernández, despite the negotiations taking longer than expected.
The Los Angeles Dodgers still need an outfielder, but it's only a matter of time before the gap is filled. Teoscar Hernández is still on the market, and MLB insider Ken Rosenthal spoke Monday about the mutual interest but admitted he's puzzled on why a deal hasn't happened yet. 'I still expect the Dodgers to re-sign Teoscar Hernández,' said Rosenthal. 'This is seemingly the dance the two sides are going through. It's taking much longer than it should've.
Teoscar wants to be back, the Dodgers want him back, I'm not exactly sure what the problem is (there).' Hernández holds a market value of approximately $24 million per year and projects to sign a three-year contract. He hit .272 with 33 home runs and 99 RBI in 2024 with the Dodgers. Even though Hernández is now 32 years old, the Dodgers still expect him to be a big factor in their lineup. He found a home last year in left field of Dodger Stadium, and it's only a matter of time before the reunion happens. However, the Dodgers are looking at alternatives just in case a deal can't be reached. Rosenthal mentioned Seiya Suzuki, Luis Robert and Ha-Seong Kim as other options. Of the two that would be acquired through a trade (Suzuki and Robert), Rosenthal sees the latter as being the one who is more available. Kim is an option in the free agent market but is expected to miss the early part of the season due to surgery.
