The Dodgers played a pair of split-squad games Tuesday afternoon. One team beat the Cleveland Guardians, 4-2, at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Ariz. The other allowed 16 hits in a 12-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants at Camelback Ranch in Glendale.Clayton Kershaw allowed two runs on four hits while striking out three in five innings against the Guardians. He is on schedule to start the first game of the Freeway Series on Sunday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Giants scored four times on four hits in the second inning. Syndergaard didn’t finish that inning then re-entered the game in the third and pitched into the fifth. He was charged with two more runs without finishing that inning. Syndergaard’s velocity was down from previous Cactus League outings. He said a blister issue on his pitching hand was partly responsible.
