Alberto and Kimbrel dropped from the roster for the first round to make room for Treinen, May and Vargas for the NLDS, which starts tonight against the Padres
LOS ANGELES — Blake Treinen and Dustin May recovered from their injuries well enough to be included on the Dodgers’ National League Division Series roster announced Tuesday morning.Veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel, demoted as closer in September, is not on the roster for the best-of-five series against the San Diego Padres, which begins tonight.
May returned from Tommy John surgery in August but finished the season on the injured list after suffering a back injury. He made just six starts this season. Kimbrel did not get one of those spots. The veteran reliever finished the season with a 3.75 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, proving to be too inconsistent to continue in the closer role.
