Jeep, Chrysler, and Fiat saw increases but losses at Ram, Dodge, and Alfa Romeo brought the average into the negative
Stellantis experienced a 10% decrease in sales compared to Q1 2023, driven by significant drops from Ram and Dodge. Jeep, the bright spot, achieved a 2% sales increase with nearly every model except the Cherokee performing well. Dodge's new Hornet, a sister model to the Alfa Rome Tonale, outsold the Tonale by a factor of 10, raising questions about badge-engineering. First quarter sales results for Stellantis are in and they're 10 percent lower than they were in 2023.
As Carscoops said in that report, Alfa dealers are going to look like idiots trying to sell the $43,485 Tonale, which is effectively the same car that the Dodge dealer is offering over the road with a sticker starting of $31,400. Sure enough, the Hornet outsold the Tonale more than 10-1. Alfa Romeo managed to sell just 728 examples of its supposedly more luxurious, but basically, near-identical crossover. It actually outsold the Giulia which had 640 sales.
