The new Dodge Charger will continue to be offered without a V8 engine, despite mixed reviews for the Charger Daytona EV. Engineers cite both space and design considerations as reasons for the decision, emphasizing the car's focus on modernity.
The new Dodge Charger won't be available with a V8 engine. Former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares is reportedly responsible for this decision. Although Tavares has left the company, the V8 is unlikely to return to the Charger. Stellantis is reportedly phasing out the Hemi engine, and Tavares is said to have been behind this move to make Dodge and Ram more environmentally friendly. However, despite the mixed reviews of the new Charger Daytona EV, a report suggests that it won't get a V8.
According to Jalopnik's Andy Kalmowitz, Dodge engineers cite two main reasons for this. Firstly, the Hemi V8 won't even fit under the hood of the new Charger. Secondly, they argue that going back to the V8 would contradict the car's goal of being a modern muscle car.
