Police were dispatched Sept. 2, 2014 to the 3500 block of Moon Drive after residents found a woman lying in between two houses. The woman had been severely beaten, with her face swollen and bloody, according to a Mesquite police arrest-warrant affidavit. The woman, who is legally blind, had been sexually assaulted, the affidavit said. .— an FBI-developed national DNA database —, but did not return a match, the affidavit said.
When investigators saw Post discard an empty Coke, they recovered the can from the trash and processed it for DNA. On July 10, the DNA returned a match for the suspect profile, the affidavit said.According to the affidavit, police found Post’s mother lived one street over from where the crime occurred. Police had spoken with Post the day after the assault while canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses, the affidavit said.
Post was booked July 12 into the Dallas County jail, where he remained Thursday on $5 million bail.
