Dizon: Philippines to build, accredit 58 more COVID19 testing laboratories

MANILA -- The Philippine government is targeting to build and accredit additional laboratories by the end of the month to ramp up coronavirus disease 2019 testing in the country, BCDA President Vince Dizon, deputy chief implementer for the country’s COVID-19 response, announced Monday night.

“Once we have enough testing capacity, mas magiging kampante po tayo na mag-ease ng restriction,” Dizon added, as he noted the example of ASEAN neighbor Vietnam, which has been able to build 112 testing laboratories as part of its COVID-19 response. "We need to really invest in the testing capacity also because we know that a vaccine is forthcoming soon," he said.

Dizon was appointed on Friday as the deputy chief implementer of National Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases .
